The wave has washed over the seal and pushed it off the iceberg. The whales stationed one of themselves on the far side of the iceberg in perfect position to bite the seal when it washed off. This didn't seem to actually happen though, likely because it was a training session. I speculate that in a real hunt the waiting whale would just bite the seal and the conflict would end quickly.
