There is a tradition that men or older boys walk around the island for a week on a religious pilgrimage. They go in groups and stop at many if not all the churches on their path. At each church they have a small ceremony, which seemed to involved some prayers. This group happened by while we were in front of the main church in Ponta Delgada.
